Our Insights
December 3, 2024
As we approach the close of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on an extraordinary year for the Aprio Group. It has been a period of transformation, innovation, and growth – not only for Aprio, but also for South Africa and the continent.
Change is certainly underway. In South Africa, the transition to a Government of National Unity passed the 100-day mark in early October, and while a level of cautious optimism remains, there is a sense of heightened interest and excitement in the country. In Namibia, a tight electoral contest marked a pivotal moment in the country’s political trajectory with the ruling Swapo party continuing to reduce its once dominant leadership position. This development mirrors regional political transitions where long-established ruling parties, including Zambia’s Patriotic Front and the Botswana Democratic Party, lost ground to rising opposition parties.
In the face of political, economic, and social change in many of the jurisdictions where we operate, I am pleased to say that Aprio has emerged stronger than ever. Our exceptional team has navigated the highs and the lows across our markets with skill and confidence, ensuring our clients continue to receive the highest level of guidance and support.
At Aprio we take great pride in the work we’re able to do as a collective, and in our team’s standing, expertise and commitment to excellence, which has allowed us to deliver exceptional value to our clients. We have been steadfast in our mission to provide the advice and leadership needed to communicate effectively in rapidly changing environments.
One of the areas in which we’ve seen growth this year has been in our digital services. As businesses increasingly rely on digital platforms to reach audiences, and as those platforms become more technical and specialised, Aprio’s ability to drive impactful communication through innovative digital strategies has become a significant value-add for our clients.
Our crisis and issue-management work, which includes media and leadership coaching and preparation, has also been in high demand, and we are proud to have provided significant value to clients who have encountered issues over the past year, helping them emerge stronger and more resilient.
Our investor relations offering has gained additional momentum since the Government of National Unity was formed. The need for heightened financial communication and corporate-action preparedness is evident, and Aprio has been at the forefront of meeting this demand.
Aprio’s footprint across Africa continues to expand. This year we’ve been involved in impactful projects in Zambia and Namibia, while key-client representation in six additional African countries is showing promising signs of growth.
The momentum we’ve achieved in 2024 – from exciting new projects with existing clients to the successful onboarding of new partnerships – positions us well for continued success in the new year. I am confident that our exceptional team and growing market opportunities will see us reach even greater heights in 2025.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all our clients for your continued support. Your trust in us has been the foundation of our success and I look forward to continuing our work together in the year ahead.
A special thank you goes to the Aprio team for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence. I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, and I look forward to our continued success in 2025.
I wish you and your families a restful and happy holiday season and I look forward to connecting with you again in the new year.
