We continue to be inspired by our work with Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA), Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and Business for South Africa (B4SA), organisations at the forefront of driving the interventions needed for South Africa’s future economic success. This has provided Aprio with an opportunity to support the critically important work that is currently underway to correct South Africa’s rocky economic course and ultimately stimulate investment, inclusive growth and employment.
Globally the competition for capital is about to intensify. This may be a generic statement applicable to all sectors striving for investment attractiveness, in markets impacted by the effects of inflation rates rising to multi-decade highs and the consequential hike in interest rates.

The year has proven to be a tough one for several well-known global corporations that have faced significant reputation crises. 2024 is fast approaching and businesses will embark on a transformative odyssey reminiscent of Joseph Campbell’s hero’s (or heroine’s) journey — a quest filled with challenges, discoveries, and ultimately, triumph. Our communications leader must navigate unknown terrains, draw upon new resources, and tackle unprecedented foes to conquer an unimaginably difficult quest. But the good news is that overcoming this is possible. In fact it may be the stuff of legends.
Businesses worldwide are making progress toward achieving their digital transformation priorities and will continue to make this a top priority in 2024. This shift encompasses not just the adoption of new back-office or operational technologies; it will also transform the ways in which companies communicate, both internally and externally.

Despite multiple South African corporates publicly stating in recent months that they were doing contingency planning for a total electricity grid failure scenario, just a third (33%) of South Africa’s biggest companies have electricity supply concerns as a principal risk on their most recent published risk registers.
The obvious question is to what extent social media can influence African political and business campaigns and strategies? First let us consider these facts, issued by the GSM Association, which expects unique mobile subscriptions and SIM connections in Africa to rise to 615-million and 1.12-billion respectively, in 2025.
